I love to sew...

or do I?

I love to read about sewing, I love to see what others are sewing (I'm addicted to Pattern Review), I love to look at, and buy, patterns and fabric. But when it comes to the actual sewing, something gets in my way.

I have several unfinished projects that I just can't seem to finish. And many, many projects in mind that I just can't seem to start.

It's time to make a decision. To sew or not to sew. That is the question...

Kathy,

I am exactly the same. I spend hours reading sewing books, navigating through sewing Web sites. Doing research for techniques, looking for used sewing machines for my friends... but my boyfriend keeps telling me: why don't you sew now!

I think there is a problem with your 'starter' (like in a car). But once we start we can not stop... until we are almost done and there we stop to add another Unfinished project to our list!!!

This is at least what I feel.

This 4 garments mini wardrobe contest is a motivator but the first garment is hard to start. I I have done my first but it is an unfinished project since the hem needs to be done. Any excuses are good not to do it: no one at home can measure it properly, I do not know yet which lenght I want it etc ... It remains an unfinished project until I get to the end of the month. In the meantime, I am starting my next project. The end of the month is when I will do a blitz to finish everything.

Probably a good therapist could help :-) My hypothesis is that people can avoid success when never finishing up what they are doing... avoiding satisfaction??? Being scared to start because scared of failure??? Don't know!

Maybe we could do research on pattern review. I am sure we are not the only ones...
